Our president said, that it wont be a fast decision.
but he also said, that if the right person comes along it could also be, that it is a quick decision.

but they said, they didn't talk to anyone yet (yesterday), arnar.

Kaiserslautern sack coach as promotion dream is seemingly over Wednesday 11 April 2007

Kaiserslautern on Wednesday sacked coach Wolfgang Wolf as the German second-division team has little chance to be promoted into the top flight.Kaiserslautern rank sixth, five points away from third place which is the last promotion berth. There are six matches left in the season.

Wolf was a former Kaiserslautern player who became coach at the team in October 2005. Club officials said that assistant Wolfgang Funkel, also a former player on the team, will be promoted to head coach. dpa jb

Speculations about the new coach

At the moment the fans are discussing about many possible coaches.

The following names are the most frequent ones:

Thomas "Tom" Dooley (is head of a soccer school in California, but would come at once if he could coach a tema of Bundesliga 1 or 2), Winfried "Winnie" Schäfer (former coach of Karlsruher SC and of Cameroon who was seen a few times in Kaiserslautern the last weeks), Ciriaco Sforza (former player of FCK, Inter Milan, Bayern München, actual coach of FC Luzern/Switzerland), Volker Finke (was more than ten years the coach of SC Freiburg, his job finishs with the end of this season), Klaus Toppmöller (former FCK player (shot the most goals ever) who was coach at VfL Bochum, Bayer Leverkusen and Albania, actual coach of Georgian Republic).

New chef coach: Kjetil Andre Rekdal (Norway)

- played for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hertha BSC Berlin in Germany

- won the championship in Norway with Lillestrom

- hired at Lierse (Belgium), when the club was at the last place without touching the teams above -> actually in relegation (first or second belgian league)

New players:

Alexander Bugera (MSV Duisburg)

Boubacar Diarra (SC Freiburg)

Erik Jendrisek (MFK Ruzomberok/Slovakia)

Patrice Bernier (Tromso IL/Norway)

Daniel Halfar injured again

He missed 7 months because of problems with his back.

One vertebra is too big.

He was officially cured but had to leave the friendly match against Bernbach after 15 minutes.

Now he is going to be operated.

The operation will be complicated.

The transfer period terminated at 00.00 this morning.

There were some activities:

Noureddine Daham joined TuS Koblenz, he had to exercise in our second team and had no chance to play for us any more.

Daniel Halfar will play for Arminia Bielefeld in the "1. Bundesliga" - we get around 800.000 EUR.

Jürgen Macho went to Greece last night. He will play for AEK Athens.

After the decision of coach Kjetil Rekdal who made Florian Fromlowitz our new number one, Macho wanted to leave to secure his place in the austrian nationalteam at the European Championship next summer.

Good luck to all of the players who left us this summer!

Espen Hansen
was contracted at about 11.40 last night.

He comes from Odense BK in Denmark, is 26 years old and a central midfielder.

Welcome to Kaiserslautern and good luck!!
