The Brazilian defender Rodnei will be joining 1. FC Kaiserslautern. FCK and Hertha BSC Berlin have reached a loan agreement with a purchase option for the 23-year-old.
Rodnei is a center back who is also able to play in the position of a right or left back. The left-footed defender has been playing for Hertha together with FCK forward Srdjan Lakic for a short while in the past. The Brazilian player has made nine appearances in the Bundesliga first division. In the second half of the season 2008/09 for example, Rodnei was part of the starting line-up in the match against Bayern Munich which Hertha won 2-1.
"Rodnei is a center back who can play in variety of different positions in the defense. Since we have been watching him for a long time, we are very delighted to have him in our team now,” Stefan Kuntz, chairman of the FCK board of management, commented on the new signing.
