1-1 - FCK Keeps its Record Clean

In the second home game of the new league campaign, 1. FC Kaiserslautern welcomed Alemannia Aachen in the Fritz Walter Stadium. On this sunny Sunday, numerous FCK fans came to the Betzenberg again to support the Red Devils. Head coach Marco Kurz put his trust in the same team which has won the last three competitive games.

The Red Devils started impulsively and entered Aachen’s goal box several times during the first ten minutes of the game. Nemec who had trapped the ball after a Bugera corner kick brought a brilliant save out of Aachen’s shot-stopper. In the sixth minute, a header by Rodnei missed the target only by a fraction of an inch.

During the first fifteen minutes of the game, the Red Devils were in control of the happenings on the field of play. The guests, however, translated their first scoring chance into Babacar Gueye’s well-worked 17th-minute opener. Patrick Milchraum evaded the FCK defense by kicking the ball over their heads before Babacar Gueye caught the leather and netted.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, did not lose poise and enhanced the pressure. Unfortunately, they failed to turn their dominance into goals. In the 24th minute, Rodnei had the chance to equalize, but Aachen’s keeper was able to parry. Also the following shot by Nemec missed the target. One minute later, the Red Devils attacked the opponent’s goal again. This time, a well-circled Bugera corner kick found Jendrisek who thundered the ball on goal – and again it was Stuckmann who saved.

FCK did not stop to press for the equalizer at all. Nevertheless, also the next chance passed without success. A well-targeted cross by Sam found Jendrisek. His attempt, however, did not land in the net (36). The brilliantly attacking side of Marco Kurz did not succeed to burry the ball in the net, and the team went to the changing room with a 0-1 deficit.

With all players in their own half of the field, the guests concentrated on preventing a goal against. Nonetheless, Jendrisek released Nemec into space on the left, but Nemec’s header flew over the crossbar (60). Afterwards, sub Paljic sent a fine cross to Jendrisek who cannoned on goal. Unfortunately, Aachen’s shot-stopper was able to save (62). Ten minutes later, the faithful Red Devils’ fans finally had reason to cheer. Paljic outperformed his opponents and brilliantly crossed to Ilicevic who fired the ball into the net (72). A few minutes from time, FCK goalkeeper Tobias Sippel again had work to do when Adlung emerged in front of goal. The U-21 European Champion, however, demonstrated a great save and secured one point for his team.

The Red Devils did not slow down but went on fighting. They pressed for the decisive goal and had some further chances, but there wasn’t enough time. The match between Alemannia Aachen and 1. FC Kaiserslautern ended in a 1-1 draw.

On the third match day of the new season, the fans saw a tantalizing game and an impulsively playing squad at the Betzenberg. A squad that has not lost one single game up to now and that lies third in the embryonic Bundesliga table.
